One of my dearest friends sent me a CD today, with a song that she and her Husband to be will be singing at their wedding. Not only is it beautiful, but I really really needed it right now. We are going through so much I feel as if I am hanging on by a thread emotionally some moments in the day. For this I am grateful, because it shows me palpably how much I need HIM... but its also scarey too... because Im human. So I went looking online for the title of the song, and low and behold it is largely, with only a few words changes, comprised of the words of a poem by William Cowper.. a man whom I've been reading about it John Piper's book, "The Hidden Smile of God." Which the title,  I suspect was taken from this exact poem.

It has blessed me in so many ways tonight as I've listened to it nonstop. I have been struggling more the last 3 days than all the preceding 4 weeks we've been going through this... and here is this song. Thank you Yahweh.. Thank you Sarah. I love you.

Kellie

God Moves In A Mysterious Way

God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.

Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never-failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs,
And works His sovereign will.

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take,
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.

His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.

Blind unbelief is sure to err,
And scan his work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.

William Cowper

The chorus they added to it goes,

So God we trust in You

So God we trust in You

( bridge) When tears are great and comforts few, we hope in mercies ever new, we trust in You)

We trust in You.

Hello.

I read your post on the QF digest and was surprised that I already "knew" you! How terrible of a trial but know this that God is in control. Did you know that William Cowper, the author of the above song, was actually insane for part of his life? Goes to show you that we can be weak from what others see but if we have Christ then His strength is made perfect in  our weakness.

God's Peace,

Sarah
